Buonasera a tutti e a tutte, in questa pagina desidero notificare ai miei sostenitori che da anni sono in possesso di “Padre Pio Sanctus”, un DVD uscito nel 2003 che costituisce una sorta di antologia definitiva sulla vita di Francesco Forgione, Padre Pio, il frate più famoso in Italia e nel Mondo, nato a Pietrelcina, un piccolo paese della provincia di Benevento in Campania il 25 Maggio del 1887 e morto a San Giovanni Rotondo in provincia di Foggia in Puglia il 23 Settembre del 1968. Un uomo Padre Pio dall’umanità immensa, che conobbe molto bene la povertà e la miseria nella sua famiglia, dato che il padre dovette emigrare in America per guadagnare i soldi che sarebbero serviti anche a far studiare il giovane Francesco e farlo entrare in Seminario per abbracciare completamente la vita di Gesù Cristo e vivere in lui, attraverso la sua misericordia ed il suo mistero. Padre Pio è stato un uomo umano, generoso, ma anche molto austero e burbero, specie quando aveva a che fare con seccatori che cercavano di indurlo a fare cose che lo potevano mettere in difficoltà, ma lui ha sempre saputo come ammonirli e respingerli, quando necessario.
Dopo aver abbracciato la vita monastica, il 20 Settembre 1918, all’età di 31 anni, mentre era a pregare nella cappella della Chiesa di Santa Maria delle Grazie davanti alla croce di Gesù Cristo, ebbe in dono da lui il regalo più importante ed intenso che gli avrebbe mai potuto donare, vivere esattamente come lui, ma questo regalo comportava anche immensa sofferenza, vivere la sua stessa sofferenza: si trattò delle famose stigmate, i buchi su mani e piedi provocati dai chiodi applicati dai centurioni romani quando inchiodarono sulla croce Gesù, buchi che tendevano spesso a sanguinare e per la vergogna, Padre Pio era costretto sia a nascondere le mani ogni volta che venivano viste dai suoi fedeli o far applicare dai medici bendaggi continui per evitare che la gente in pubblico potesse accorgersi di tali segni, e quando la voce arrivò a diversi alti componenti della Chiesa Cattolica, su tutti cardinali e vescovi, costoro ritennero che le ferite fossero autoprodotte, ritenevano cioè che Padre Pio fosse un autolesionista che si procurava apposta tali ferite per polarizzare, attrarre l’attenzione su di sé, lo ritennero una persona affetta da manie di protagonismo, ma solo dopo aver costituito una commissione d’inchiesta dal Vaticano a Roma, si dovette ammettere l’entità sovrannaturale delle ferite, non erano spiegabili per la Scienza ufficiale. Padre Pio era molto fragile e tendeva spesso ad ammalarsi, aveva spesso una febbre da cavallo, oltre 40°C senza una motivazione apparente, venne più volte mandato a respirare l’aria natia della sua Pietrelcina, sperando che potesse fargli bene e che il male se ne andasse da lui, come puntualmente accadeva, ma spesso i forti malanni tornavano a manifestarsi senza che lui potesse far niente, più volte era sul punto di farsi conferire l’estrema unzione, ma appena prima lui tornava sempre a guarire.
Padre Pio divenne famoso anche per un altro aspetto poco indagato e sul quale non si è mai riuscito a fare completamente luce, le lotte fisiche contro il maligno, rappresentato da un’entità demoniaca che lo ha perseguitato per anni e che gli si manifestava sotto molteplici forme: un cane da combattimento di color nero, un improvviso rumore di vento che lui percepiva come un campo di energia negativa, una donna ferma che attendeva di essere profanata da lui, ma Padre Pio non ha mai ceduto alle tentazioni che Dio stesso gli mandava per metterlo alla prova e capire se la sua anima era veramente meritevole della sua infinita misericordia. In Era Moderna il prelato esorcista più conosciuto era Padre Amorth, ma il più famoso e potente dal punto di vista spirituale è stato senza alcun dubbio Padre Pio da Pietrelcina. Famoso l’episodio in cui mentre era a celebrare messa nella Chiesa di Santa Maria delle Grazie, entrò una giovane ragazza posseduta dal demonio che era retta da due persone e si dimenava, divenne una furia non appena vide Padre Pio fermarsi e venire verso di lei, che gli disse: “Il prete è venuto qui a celebrare messa. Sapete cosa gli ho fatto ieri sera? L’ho massacrato di botte! Non dovresti essere qui a celebrare messa, bastardo!” E a quel punto, forte della sua immensa spiritualità, Padre Pio alzò una mano e cominciò a praticare il rito esorcista davanti a tutti i presenti e mentre poggiava la mano sul capo della ragazza, si girò verso la figura sinistra di un prete che lo fissava arrabbiato e lui guardandolo, gli disse: “Lasciala stare, vattene via da lei, lasciala in pace!” Il demonio uscì da lei e tornò ad essere una ragazza mite e docile, com’era prima di essere attaccata dal demone che aveva pervaso la sua anima. Il demonio spesso la notte tornava a fare visita a Padre Pio, sia da giovane nella sua Pietrelcina che nella sua cella nel monastero di San Giovanni Rotondo, con i confratelli che venivano svegliati più volte durante la notte per le furiose colluttazioni che si manifestavano tra il demonio e Padre Pio, che veniva tirato giù dal letto e picchiato più e più volte fino a lasciarlo esanime, sfinito privo di energie riverso sul pavimento e solo l’intervento degli altri suoi confratelli gli faceva ritornare la serenità di cui aveva bisogno.
Padre Pio morì nella sua San Giovanni Rotondo il 23 Settembre del 1968 e tutto quello che ci ha lasciato in eredità è ancora visibile oggi in questo piccolo paese della Puglia: Il monastero sito vicino alla Chiesa di Santa Maria delle Grazie, la stanza dove ha vissuto per anni e nella quale ci sono ancora tutti gli oggetti al loro posto usati durante la sua vita protetta da un vetro e da una delle fessure mia madre nel 2015 ha lanciato una mia foto da bambino per chiedergli protezione sulla mia vita, cosa che è tornata utile il 4 Marzo 2022, quando sono guarito dai sintomi acuti del COVID19, grazie sicuramente anche al suo intervento protettivo, oltre a quello dei miei defunti nonni materni Carmine Palermo e Maria Concetta Gulia, ma soprattutto l’infrastruttura ideata e voluta da Padre Pio per lenire la sofferenza delle persone che si rivolgevano a lui con una lettera, è stata la Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza, l’ospedale realizzato con i soldi provenienti dalle offerte che giungevano a Padre Pio da tutto il Mondo, ospedale dove sarebbero venuti a lavorare “i migliori medici del Mondo”, come ripeteva più volte il frate cappuccino.

L’ospedale di Vasto dove vivo dal 16 Marzo 2021 guarda caso è il San Pio da Pietrelcina e lungo via San Rocco, a 2 km da casa mia sorge la Residenza Sanitaria Assistita per anziani di San Pio dove nella parte alta dell’entrata campeggia grande la famosa frase di Padre Pio: “Non ti curare del domani, pensa a fare del bene oggi.” a testimonianza di quanto non soltanto il Prof. Mario Spallone, il medico personale di Palmiro Togliatti, lo storico Segretario del Partito Comunista Italiano ed ex-Sindaco di Avezzano (AQ) dal 1992 al 2003 era molto legato a Padre Pio, ma anch’io ed i miei genitori e più di quanto si possa credere, nonostante sia nota la laicità dell’intera mia famiglia.
