Ci aiuti a raggiungerlo?

IN GAZA THERE IS AN EMERGENCY WITHIN AN EMERGENCY
Hello Alessio,
I am writing to you to tell you about an emergency within an emergency: the imminent arrival of summer and the heat are dramatically worsening the health and hygiene conditions in Gaza. The water shortage is becoming even more acute, with the resulting lethal consequences: disease and death.
Already today the heat and the accumulation of waste and sewage are creating the perfect mix for a real health catastrophe to arise.
Hundreds of thousands of people are forced to live in inhuman conditions, to drink dirty and contaminated water, among the insects that swarm everywhere.
Under these conditions new epidemics of hepatitis A and cholera are inevitable. We know, they are diseases that thrive in overcrowded places without adequate sanitation.
Do you know that in the Al-Mawasi area, designated as a “humanitarian zone”, near Rafah, over 550 thousand displaced people are surviving in intolerable conditions? having to share one latrine for every 4,130 people?
However, the healthcare system in Gaza is already collapsing, with hospitals and medical facilities struggling to provide essential care in a context in which equipment, medicines and personnel are absolutely insufficient for a very high number of patients, moreover in poor hygienic conditions without access to clean water.
The situation is desperate. Patients like Ibrahim, who today is camped with his family in a tent in the courtyard of Al Aqsa hospital, know this well. In this tragic scenario, as his health worsens he feels he is losing hope.
Alessio, we have set ourselves a goal: to bring as much aid as possible by July, before the summer and the heat make the absence of clean water even more dangerous. Can you help us get there?
Bring clean water and essential goods to Gaza and thus save the lives of people like Ibrahim. YOUR timely help will make a difference in this critical season.
Paolo Pezzati Spokesperson for humanitarian crises – Oxfam Italia
P.S. We must bring as much aid as possible by the end of July, before the health and hygiene situation worsens irreversibly.

ISRAEL, MORE BOMBINGS ON RAFAH, BUT TENSION WITH EGYPT ALSO GROWS
Other aerial bombardments launched against one of the several refugee camps west of Rafah
30 May 2024
It was a night of intense bombing in Rafah and clashes in the far southern Gaza city, after Israel declared it had taken control of the Philadelphi corridor, a strategic buffer along the border between the Palestinian territory and Egypt. Military spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari announced that Israel had taken “operational control” of the narrow border area, where he said “around 20 tunnels were discovered.” Egypt, a longtime mediator in the conflict and an increasingly outspoken critic of the Israeli operation, has rejected accusations that the tunnels were used to smuggle weapons. “Israel is using these accusations to justify continuing the Rafah operation,” a high-level Egyptian source told Al-Qahera News newspaper.
Egyptian officials have said that a potential Israeli takeover of the Philadelphi corridor would be a violation of the historic 1979 peace agreement between the two countries. During a visit to Beijing, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi called for increased humanitarian assistance for Gaza and He reiterated his country’s long-standing opposition to “any attempt to force Palestinians to flee their land.”
On the ground, witnesses reported fighting in central and western Rafah and that Israeli forces demolished several buildings in the eastern parts of the city. Artillery shells reached the Zeitun neighborhood, in Gaza City, in the north of the territory, where thick plumes of smoke rose from the refugee camps of Jabalia and Beit Lahia. Meanwhile, a constant flow of civilians is fleeing Rafah, carrying their belongings on their backs, in cars or in donkey carts. Last weekend’s bombing, which killed 45 people in a refugee camp, sparked a wave of new condemnations, including a social media campaign with the slogan “All eyes on Rafah” that was shared by tens of millions of users.

Israel has taken control of the entire border between the Gaza Strip and Egypt

The Israeli army announced that it had taken control of the entire area of the Gaza Strip that borders Egypt. It is the so-called “Philadelphi Route”, a thin strip of land about 14 kilometers long that runs entirely along the territory’s only border with Egypt.
Israeli army spokesman Daniel Hagari said the area “was regularly used by Hamas to smuggle weapons into the Gaza Strip area.” An Israeli army official told the Israeli newspaper Haaretz on conditions of anonymity that around 20 Hamas tunnels were found during the operation, including some previously unknown to Israel, as well as 82 access points to such tunnels.
Egyptian state TV Al Qahera News reported that, according to a “high-level Egyptian source”, Israel is using claims about tunnels found on the border between the Strip and Egypt as cover for its Rafah offensive, which until a few days ago it was the last city in the Strip that he had not yet invaded.
